What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are molecules that are present naturally in the human body and, when administered into the skin, bring about a variety of benefits due to their biostimulating effects. Polynucleotides have become one of the most popular treatments in regenerative medicine due to their large evidence-base and their ability to improve signs of ageing in the face, neck, décolletage, hands and body, as well as the eye area.  Our patients love this treatment as it is natural and won’t change your facial features – it simply stimulates your own cells to regenerate the skin’s tissues.

How do Polynucleotides work?

Polynucleotides have 4 main benefits which are brought about by various cellular processes:

  • Hydration of the skin
  • Biostimulation of collagen and elastin
  • Protection against future ageing
  • Lifting and contouring
  • What’s involved in Polynucleotides treatment?

Following a consultation, your practitioner will put together a tailored treatment plan based on your concerns. After the skin is disinfected, the polynucleotides will be introduced into the skin layers with either very fine needles or a cannula, depending on the area(s) being treated. Sometimes local or topical anaesthetic is provided for more sensitive areas, and a gentle massage is carried out afterwards.

While you will see some immediate improvements, best results are seen 60 days after treatment. A course of 3 treatments are required, at 2-4 week intervals. 1-2 maintenance treatments are required at 6 monthly intervals.
